The State Administration of Cultural Heritage announced on March 2 in Beijing that the first national survey of moveable relics had achieved positive results. As of March 2, there were 12.68 million relics recognized and registered and 10.65 million digital pictures of cultural relics uploaded. The number of relics being surveyed is growing at a pace of 60,000 per day. A database for moveable cultural relics has also been established, with each relic assigned an identity number generated by combining codes for administrative area, originating industries and organizations, and the sequence number for each piece. The ID number will not change with places, organizations and other factors.
The Chinese version appeared in Chinese Social Sciences Today, No. 709, March 4, 2015.
