BNU and Asian Social Psychological Association Jointly Launch Asian Journal of Social Psychology

On September 24, 2014, Beijing Normal University (BNU) and the Asian Social Psychological Association jointly hosted the signing ceremony for the Asian Journal of Social Psychology and appointed James H. Liu, visiting professor at BNU, as editor. Vice President Yang Geng and other principal leaders of the School of Psychology attended the ceremony.

Liu Jia, Dean of the School of Psychology, and James H. Liu, Director of the Asian Social Psychological Association, signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the two parties. Professor. Liu, on behalf of theeditorial committee of Asian Journal of Social Psychology, appointed Yang Geng Senior Editor. Yang issued James H. Liu a certificate acknowledging him as visiting professor.

Yang says that the creation of the journal indicates that BNU, as well as Chinese psychological circles, now have a first SCI/SSCI, which is listed in English-language academic journals (joint). He pointed out that this is one of the important steps in the development of psychological science on an international level at BNU and it marks Chinese psychology’s growing presence in Asian academic circles. BNU will provide full support for the journal’s operation and hopes that the founding parties will cooperate closely to continuously improve the quality of the publication.

The Asian Social Psychological Association, founded in 1995, is the only international organization of psychology in Asia whose purpose is to promote social psychology research and its application in the Asia-Pacific region, and to provide an academic exchange platform for social psychologists in the Asia-Pacific region. Asian Journal of Social Psychology is a flagship journal of the Asian Social Psychological Association, was founded in 1998 and was included in the SSCI in 2003. It is published by Wiley-Blackwell Publishing Group, which is an internationally known firm. The journal strictly implements a two-way evaluation system that rejects some eighty percent of the articles submitted. It is one of the major academic journals in the field of international social psychology.

Professor Liu is employed by Victoria University of Wellington and is the Director of the Asian Social Psychological Association and senior editor of Asian Journal of Social Psychology. He is an excellent social psychologist of Chinese origin and is recognized for his academic achievements in the field of social psychology.
