Scholars Discuss the Strategy of Developing Non-Common Languages

The inaugural China Non-Common Languages Strategic Development Forum & BFSU Seminar on New-Type Think Tank Construction was held at the library of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on December 20.

BFSU Vice President Jia Wenjian presided over the opening ceremony and the speakers include BFSU President Peng Long, Vice Dean Li Shaoxian of China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, and Liu Shuxiong, Vice Chairman of FLT Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education and Chairman of Non-Common Languages Advisory Board.

Peng Long also presented letters of appointment to the advisors contracted by BFSU School of Asian and African Languages.

The participants centered on the development of non-common languages and discussed three main topics of development strategy, tank think building, plans and high-end talent cultivation. Experts and scholars from universities and research institutes contributed their suggestions and proposals to non-common language teaching and studies in the country.

The forum has been reported by Phoenix TV, China National Radio, People’s Daily, China Daily, China Education Daily, and China Social Sciences Today. CCTV interviewed Peng Long about non-common languages in China.
