Tsinghua University to publish AI textbook for high school students

China's prestigious Tsinghua University will publish a textbook on artificial intelligence (AI) for high school students in September, according to the university.

Compiled by AI experts from the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences of the university, the textbook will be published by the Tsinghua University Press.

It will feature eight core basic modules of AI including machine learning, neural networks, computer vision and natural language processing. The textbook will also be accompanied by exclusive website resources to facilitate hands-on practice.

China has issued a plan to foster AI development and include AI courses in primary and secondary schools.

AI will have a profound impact on various disciplines and the textbook will help high school students acquire correct concepts of AI, according to Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences and chief editor of the textbook.
