CBD blue book released

Author  :       Source  :    Chinese Social Sciences Today     2016-03-08

The second blue book of central business districts was released by the Institute for Urban and Environmental Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China CBD Alliance last month. Based on data collected from more than 20 CBDs around the country, the blue book takes a systematic look at the overall situation of central business districts in China, including economic scale, economic efficiency, tax contribution, industrial structure and degree of opening up. According to the blue book, CBDs play a vital role in regional collaborative development because they have the capacity to exert economic control and regional influence. CBDs act as centers for regional and national resource allocation, drivers of innovation, and pools of talent as well as hubs of business, management and cultural communication, according to the blue book. The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration and Great Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration are two CBD networks that serve as models for this kind of regional integration, according to the blue book.
