Development in Latin America, the Caribbean limited

Author  :       Source  :        2016-06-17

Latin America and the Caribbean will see limited economic development in 2016, according to the Yellow Book of Latin America and the Caribbean recently published by the Institute of Latin American Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The report points out that Latin America and the Caribbean are now in a periodic economic recession, and the region lacks momentum for recovery in the short term. According to the report, the weak recovery of the global economy, even weaker growth in international trade and low commodity prices will cause continuing adverse effects on the development of Latin America and the Caribbean. The report also predicts that China will increase and diversify its investment in the region, which will not only improve bilateral economic and trade relations but also help China integrate its production with Latin America and the Caribbean.
