Book on German social market economy released

The launch event of the book The Social Market Economy: Compatibility among the Individual, Market, Society and State recently took place in Beijing. CASS President Xie Fuzhan attended the conference and delivered a speech. Former Chinese Ambassador to Germany Mei Zhaorong presided over the opening ceremony.

Jointly compiled by Chinese and German scholars, the book carefully combs the ideological basis, institutional formation and development of Germany’s social market economic system as well as specific economic and social policies. The Chinese chief editors are Zhu Min, director of the National Institute of Financial Research at Tsinghua University and Zhou Hong, director of the Academic Division of International Studies at CASS. The German chief editors are Lars P. Feld, director of the Walter Eucken Institute in Freiburg im Breisgau and Peter Jungen, president of the Jungen consortium in Germany.
