CASS has attached great importance to the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) since its outbreak. The leading Party members’ group of CASS has studied the important speech on coordinating the prevention and control of the COVID-19 and economic and social development delivered by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and resolutely implemented the major decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee. Headed by CASS President Xie Fuzhan, the CASS group leading the response to the novel coronavirus has formulated work programs to contain the disease. Protective measures have been taken at CASS and the epidemic prevention and control work has been effectively carried out in an orderly way .

Researchers should also innovate with their work methods and conduct research in a down-to-earth manner while curbing the virus, Xie said, adding that they should particularly focus on analyzing the impact the epidemic has had on economic and social development as well as on relevant policy research, strengthen public opinion analysis and monitoring, and provide references to support the decision-making of the CPC Central Committee.

Experts and scholars from CASS have conducted research on such issues as economic development, people's livelihood, management systems and social psychology all centering on the epidemic. They have put forward countermeasures and research reports, making contributions to the national prevention and control of the virus and economic resumption.
