551 rare photoprints published
Author :   Source : 2014-06-18
A sequel to Chinese Republished Rare Books that includes photoprints of 551 ancient rare books from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties has been published by the National Library of China Publishing House. Chinese Republished Rare Books is a joint initiative of the ministries of finance and culture. The project enables rare books hidden in pavilions and libraries to be read widely by the public. Scholars say that through this project, China’s ancient rare books of all periods could be reproduced in a complete and systematical way. The project has become an important model for the preservation and protection of historical books and records. Moreover, a database taking Chinese Republished Rare Books as a basis has been launched and on trial in some libraries in China.
