A symposium themed “Inheritance, Protection and Development of Ethnic Histories and Cultures: Relations with Urbanization” was hosted by the Jilin Academy of Social Sciences on October 9.

Urbanization of ethnic groups in border areas is an important way to promote balanced development among different regions and in rural and urban areas. Jilin Academy of Social Sciences president Ma Ke claimed that to combine the construction of new urbanization with the development, utilization of cultural recourses and inheritance of folk customs is conducive to building new urbanization with Chinese characteristics.
