TCFL expected to facilitate the ‘Belt and Road’

Co-sponsored by the Beijing Language and Culture University and Xinjiang University, the 13th International Conference on Chinese as a Second Language (ICCSL-13) was held in Xinjiang from July 23 to 24. More than 200 scholars from over 16 countries and regions participated in the conference. The conference is themed “Belt and Road-Oriented Training Mode of Multi-level International Chinese Teaching Professionals.” Ji Guangnan, deputy inspector from the Education Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said the training of language professionals is the key for paving the way for the “Belt and Road” initiative. Thereby a deeper and comprehensive study of Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language (TCFL) is needed to promote the language and cultural exchanges along the proposed routes of the “Belt and Road” initiative as well as to serve the strategy.
