The Communication University of China launched the China International Communication Development Report (2014) at the China Communication Forum on June 28. The bluebook recommended China make a strategic transition in its international communication, which currently emphasizes economic values.
A shift in perspective should be made from promoting the leading role of State-owned institutions to advocating multi-dimensional development, the report found. In terms of content innovation, a user-based content system crossing areas, nations and cultures should be established. The bluebook noted that in international communication, academic circles should innovate in theoretical exploration and adhere to new concepts, goals and methods.
The Chinese version appeared in Chinese Social Sciences Today, No. 615, July 2, 2014.
