The China Committee for Development of Medium and Small Cities affiliated to China Society of Urban Economy released Green Book of Small- and Medium-sized Cities: Annual Report on Development of Small and Medium-sized Cities in China (2014) on October 17. The report investigated basic requirements for small- and medium-sized cities to build carriers and improve institutions of ecological civilization. It also analyzed new thinking and paths to strengthen land arrangement and the efficiency of land use, optimize city space, develop modern agriculture, prevent industrial population, and develop and utilize new energy. The report was based on a study of 10 cities where basic ideas and specific measures in promoting ecological civilization and fostering of eco-cities with unique characteristics were analyzed and major achievements were summarized.
