Over half of the surveyed overseas returnees lack guidance and remain uncertain about what kind of career they wish to pursue, according to the Chinese Overseas Returnees Career Report 2016 released by the Center for China and Globalization on July 31. The majority of those surveyed said that rapid economic development was the most important factor when choosing a city to settle down in. Urban infrastructure and the presence of well-developed target industries are also top priorities. According to the survey, respondents are more concerned with the development of infrastructure and access to public resources than living environment. The report found that the most common reasons respondents cited for returning to China was the influence of personal emotions and cultural factors. Many of them are drawn back by China’s promising economic prospects and political stability, according to the report.
