Soft facilities make industrial parks more competitive

The 2016 Blue Book on the Industrial Park Sustainable Development in China was released at a forum on the nation’s industrial park development held by the Development Institute at Tongji University (DI) on Dec. 3. Ren Hao, president of the DI, said the soft environment of an industrial park includes industrial arrangement, intelligent technology, lifestyle services and park culture. The development of soft environments will help parks form momentum for strategic missions, integrate industrial clusters within parks and elevate competitiveness with other parks. Shi Han, a professor of urban planning from the City University of Hong Kong, said ecological innovation is vital to the sustainable development of an industrial park. Industrial parks may develop a chain for managing green supply in order to promote energy conservation and emissions reduction within the parks, Shi suggested.
