IT development forms core of national modernization

China’s modernization should be driven by information technology in accordance with the Outline of National IT Development Strategy released by the General Office of the CPC central committee and the General Office of State Council on July 27. Information technology has the potential to restructure society, interpersonal relations and industries, said Zhao Yunze, a research fellow from the Journalism and Social Development Center at Renmin University of China. Information technology is a significant part of international competition, driving the development of technology, Zhao said. The development of the Internet is related to the public welfare, technological innovation and industrial upgrading, which eventually will affect the nation’s strategic development, he said. Coordinated efforts are needed for China to emerge as a powerful force for Internet development, he added.
