Transnational Business of Enterprises in the Process of the Internationalization of Japanese Yen
Author :   Source : Japanese Studies No.1(2014) 2014-01-07
Abstract: The internationalization of one country’s currency is always accompanied by rapid development of its foreign direct investment. When analyzing the process of the Internationalization of Japanese Yen, it should be noted that Japanese enterprises’ transnational business activities has directly influenced Yen’s internationalization. Before the bursting of the bubble economy in Japan, the upsurge of transnational business of Japanese enterprises greatly promoted the Yen’s internationalization. After that, the quick decline of Japanese transnational business activities led to a slow-down or even a standstill of the Yen’s internationalization process. That phenomenon offers a new explanation for the failure of Yen's internationalization in the perspective of transnational business of enterprises, and can be seen as a special reference for the ongoing internationalization of Renminbi.
