Study on Technical Efficiency and Influencing Factors of China's Strategic Emerging Industries

Abstract: Using Stochastic Frontier Approach (SFA) and based on the panel data of strategic emerging industries from 2003—2010，this paper analyzes technical efficiency and influencing factors of 19 sectors of China’s strategic emerging industries. The result shows that the technical progress rate of China’s strategic emerging industries is fast, but the technical efficiency is low, and presents an?undulating characteristic. Heterogeneity exists in China’s strategic emerging industries, the?technical efficiency in different industries or different regions?is?different obviously; In exogenous factors, industrial agglomeration, firm size and FDI have positive effect on technical efficiency?of?China’s strategic emerging industries, export?trade?and?the?proportion?of?state-owned economy?have negative effect; Exogenous?factors have different? impact?on?the?technical efficiency?of?strategic emerging industries?in different regions of China.
