The digital museum of China’s local chronicles was opened recently in Beijing and an exhibition was held at the State Local Chronicles Museum. The museum offers the public convenient access to the history and development of local chronicle compilation and studies in China. “The museum should make full use of its collection for the public good,” said Wang Weiguang, the president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), who also leads the local chronicle work in China. This digital museum is an important part of China’s efforts to digitize local chronicle literature and materials. A management system was developed to integrate the digitized local annals, almanacs, geographical information and other multimedia materials collected from across the nation.
