Active steps needed to ensure Internet integrity

Xinhuanet and the official website of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs jointly interviewed 10 scholars from October 2015 to January 2016 on the subject of Internet integrity and how it relates to such topics as the economy, culture, legislation, media and technology. Speaking on the relationship between network integrity and the media, Lin Junyue, chairman of the Academic Committee at the China Marketing Association, said a system of standards is needed to steer Internet media toward self-regulation. Administrative measures such as blacklists and information labeling can help Internet users to distinguish real information from falsehoods, said Wang Xiaohong, deputy director of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication at the Communication University of China.
