Chinese ideas form basis for building global concensus

Facing an ever-changing world, China has indisputably reached a new stage of influence in terms of global development concepts and institutions. When it comes to cooperation, China has actively provided resources, demonstrated models and shared ideas in recent years, receiving increasingly positive feedback and bringing itself closer to the world.

On Feb. 10, the 55th Session of the UN Commission for Social Development unanimously passed the resolution on “Social Dimensions of the New Partnership for Africa's Development,” which embraced the idea of “building a human community with a shared destiny.”

It is well known that the "human community with a shared destiny" is a concept China raised in recent years to promote universal cooperation within the international community. Revealing the tendency of the planet, it has arrived in Africa, gone global and been accepted by the United Nations.

The “human community with a shared destiny” is not only a brand-new idea upheld by China but also a practical, realistic plan. Under the framework, humankind shares the value of mutually beneficial cooperation, developmental experience and cooperation resources. This has become an irreversible historical trend. China not only proposed the idea, but has been putting it into practice and achieved remarkable results together with the international community.

Three years ago, China put forward the “Belt and Road” initiative. Connecting the Eurasian continent and reaching all parts of the world. It has been recognized by most countries and regions.

In September last year, the G20 Summit was convened in Hangzhou. The “Hangzhou Communiqué” released at the summit launched the “global infrastructure interconnectivity alliance initiative” to strengthen overall coordination and cooperation in infrastructure interconnectivity projects.

At the 71st UN General Assembly in November last year, the 193 member countries agreed to include the “Belt and Road” initiative into the UN General Assembly resolutions. This exemplifies the growing global clout of Chinese ideas.

At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017 in Davos, Switzerland, Chinese ideas received more attention. Against the backdrop of a sluggish global economy and the revival of anti-globalization sentiment, the world is placing greater value on voices from the East.

At this critical juncture, Chinese President Xi Jinping promised to adamantly advance economic globalization on behalf of China and offered a formula for world economic growth: a dynamic growth model that promotes mutually beneficial cooperation, fair and equitable governance, as well as balanced, equitable and inclusive development. The Chinese proposal significantly shored up the confidence of the international community.

In the contemporary era, as traditional major European countries and the United States put up walls to protect themselves, more nations are looking to China for leadership. In 2017, the International Cooperation Summit Forum on the "Belt and Road" Initiative will take place in Beijing, and the BRICS Summit will be held in Xiamen. Needless to say, the influence of Chinese ideas will continue to grow.

Humankind builds infrastructure together, and the world shares the fruits of joint development. Cooperation is taking root as countries around the world go forward hand in hand. It is conceivable that Chinese ideas will increasingly form the basis for new international consensus.
