China's Ministry of Justice is consulting public opinion on a draft regulation regarding online education.
The document, which is open for public comment until Sept. 10, regulates online education.
Private schools providing online credential education will be required to obtain permission for running schools and online operations, according to the draft.
Institutions offering online training should acquire permission for online operation and register with departments of education, human resources and social security at provincial level.
The draft also regulates the setting up of private schools and educational institutions, while protecting the rights and interests of teachers and other employees.
