Institute set up for China's northeast development research

A research institute on regional vitalization and development of China's northeastern regions was established Friday by Jilin University in Changchun, Jilin Province.
The new institute is expected to be a platform of high-level research, quality consultation and efficient communication based on the multi-disciplinary advantages of the university, said Zhang Xi, president of Jilin University.
A mechanism of studies based on long-term tracking will be set up, with books and reports on regional social, economic and legal advancement regularly published, Zhang added.
