On Nov 30, the fourth China-France-Africa Tripartite Higher Education Forum was successfully held at Wuhan University.
More than 100 headmasters and scholars from 25 universities in China, France and Africa participated in the discussion on the theme of "Cooperation and Win-win for the Future — Building a China-France-Africa Higher Education Community in the New Era".
Han Jin, secretary of the Party committee of Wuhan University, pointed out in the opening ceremony that, adhering to the spirit of "equality, openness, inclusiveness and mutual learning", the China-France-Africa tripartite universities have been committed to promoting the institutionalized operation of the tripartite forum on higher education since 2017, and have built it into an important platform for cooperation and development in the fields of education, science and technology and humanities.
The university will actively prepare for the establishment of China-France-Africa Tripartite Higher Education Alliance based on plans involving elite talent, high-end platform and cultural exchange, Han said.
Han claimed that hopefully China, France and Africa will further expand exchanges and cooperation in the future, and help to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Tian Xuejun, vice-minister of the ministry of education, claimed that France and African are both important educational partners of China, and the partnership between them and China promote the sharing of high-quality educational resources worldwide, exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations, which is a meaningful move for building a common destiny of mankind.
In a video message, Rahamtalla M. Osman, permanent representative of the African Union in China, said that the lack of resources for education is slowing down Africa's development. He therefore expects the participants of the forum to give a strong impetus to Africa's development and help to achieve the African Union Agenda 2063, the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (2016-25) and the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
