Tibet University spent more than 24 million yuan ($3.44 million) on scholarships, loans, student grants, medical aids and subsidies for students from impoverished families in 2021, Tibet Daily reported.

Last year, more than 9,900 students received various forms of financial support from the university, with thousands of students fulfilling their university dreams.

"In recent years, Tibet University has been working hard to provide at least eight sponsorship projects for its students. These include student loans, scholarships and grants, providing job opportunities for the students, compensation for rural students seeking jobs and exemptions from school fees and accommodation costs," Phuntsok Wangdu, an official from the university's student work department, was quoted as saying.

The university provides financial support to around 10,000 students annually. Twenty-four scholarship projects have been established, and financial aids have been provided to students financial difficulties every year, he added.

The university has also opened a green channel for students from impoverished families to process their admissions every year. This is another part of the school's effort to encourage students from poor families to go to college, he said.
