Report suggests shorter working hours to ease stress

Author  :  Huo Wenqi     Source  :        2014-12-18

Led by the Institute of Labor Market Studies at Beijing Normal University, the 2014 China Labor Market Report was issued on Nov. 22. With a focus on the relationship between working hours and job satisfaction, the report makes projections about the amount of time workers spend on the job as China transitions to a high-income country. As the report reveals, the average work schedule in China is gradually starting to resemble that of foreign countries, but overwork still prevails. The average commuting time in metropolises is long; workers take fewer vacations relative to their counterparts in other countries while diseases and deaths caused by overwork are common.
