The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) released several major works demonstrating the CPC’s history on June 28, ahead of the CPC centennial.

CASS President Xie Fuzhan, who is also secretary of the leading Party members’ group at CASS, said that it is of special significance to hold the conference to mark the CPC’s glorious history and great achievements over a century.

Xie pointed out that CASS launched the book series on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the book series to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the PRC’s founding, the Reform and Opening up research series, and Case Studies of Targeted Poverty Reduction and Alleviation in 100 Villages.

These publications have made important contributions to adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the prosperity and development of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, Xie said. This research has also exerted a positive impact on reform and opening up and the cause of socialist modernization.

Since its establishment, especially since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, CASS has always carried out people-centered research, closely focusing on major theoretical and practical issues related to the development of the Party and the country, said CASS Vice President Gao Peiyong.

CASS released five outstanding research results on Party history and Party building, all published this year, and selected 50 outstanding academic books and articles for display, which focused on Party history and Party building following the 18th CPC National Congress.

The five research results begin with the book series on new thoughts and iconic concepts for the new era, which is based on basic theoretical research by CASS’s Marxist Theoretical Innovation Think Tank. This set of books has been printed many times, and more than 100,000 copies have been issued.

Next, Chronicling China’s Reform and Opening-up strives to give a full picture of the reform and opening up process over the past four decades, highlighting records and narration of important events and key processes.

Third, the book series on the CPC’s great spirits sheds light on 45 spirits’ formation background, basic meaning, historical status and contemporary relevance.

A New Edition of the CPC’s Centennial Story extracts the stories of important events and important figures in the extraordinary struggle of the CPC, as the Party led the Chinese people to achieve the transformation from standing up, growing rich, to becoming strong in the past 100 years. The whole book series covers 650,000 Chinese characters and 183 illustrations. It is divided into four series, each containing 50 stories.

Finally, the publication, Witnessing the Century-Old Party: Narrations of Hundreds of International Communists invited more than 100 Communists from more than 50 Communist Party organizations in more than 40 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania, to elaborate on the CPC’s glorious development over the past century, and expound upon the great changes witnessed in Chinese society under the CPC’s leadership.

In addition, to celebrate the CPC’s centenary, CASS’s academic journals set up special columns, and invited famous domestic and international experts to contribute articles to systematically summarize the CPC’s achievements and experience gained in theory and practice over the past century.
