Green development offers new frontier for cooperation

Green economy is the new frontier of growth and development, said Massimo D’Alema, the former prime minister of Italy, at the fifth China-Europe High-Level Political Parties Forum held in Beijing. Sergei Dmitrievich Stanishev, the leader of the Party of European Socialists, the second-largest party in the European Parliament, said that China once prioritized economic growth but now focuses on sustainable development and environmentally friendly policies. This creates a vast space for cooperation between EU and Chinese companies, he added. The forum, initiated by the Communist Party of China, is a high-level, multilateral and strategic dialogue platform intended to strengthen communication between political parties in China and Europe. The forum this year welcomed more than 80 European leaders representing more than 30 political parties from 24 countries along with regional European political parties and political party groups in the European Parliament and their diplomats in China.
