HEFEI, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The second Lingjiatan culture forum kicked off Sunday, featuring a display of the latest archeological findings and discussions on the protection and excavation of the Lingjiatan relics site in east China's Anhui Province.

More than 200 guests from across China including government officials, archeologists, experts and scholars have been invited to participate in the forum in Ma'anshan City of Anhui, where the Lingjiatan relics site is located.

The event, scheduled from May 6 to 8, comprises an opening ceremony, a main forum, two panel discussions, and a site inspection.

A documentary launch and an opening ceremony for the Lingjiatan national archeological park will also be held during the event, according to local authorities.

The Lingjiatan relics site is a Neolithic settlement site dating back 5,300 to 5,800 years, with a total area of about 1.6 million square meters. Archaeologists believe that Lingjiatan predates Liangzhu Culture, a testament to the 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization, and has a successive relationship with it.

Since it was discovered in 1985, a total of 14 excavations have been carried out on the site, covering an area of over 7,000 square meters. More than 3,000 exquisite relics such as jade wares, stone artifacts and potteries have been unearthed from the site.
