Most people hold clear understanding of historical nihilism
Author :   Source : Chinese Social Sciences Today 2014-06-26
A survey carried out by the Chinese Social Sciences Today (Chinese version) on historical nihilism shows that 63.66% of all the respondents have a clear understanding of the nature and harm of historical nihilism, holding that systematic study of history is the way to resist this pestilent trend. But still, 21.75% and 14.59% respondents take no notice of this trend or are captivated by the so-called “historical truth” touted by this trend, without recognizing the hidden political appeal. Respondents are scholars and experts from education and research institutions in China. To refute the historical nihilism requires more attention to learning and understanding the history, enriching methods and content of the history discipline in education, and adding history into the curriculum in basic education, higher education and adult education.
The Chinese version appeared in Chinese Social Sciences Today, No. 612, June 25, 2014.
