New think tank to promote cultural studies

The Collaborative Innovation Center for Chinese Cultural Development opened at Hubei University on Jan. 28. The center gathers scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences as well as other universities, research academies and institutes for the purpose of serving as a high-end think tank for the comprehensive study of Chinese cultural development. Jiang Chang, the center’s director, said its research will mainly concentrate on six aspects: cultural progress and development in modern China, the competitiveness and influence of Chinese culture, heritage and innovation of traditional culture, learning from foreign cultures, enhancing the cultural power of Hubei Province, and constructing databases for cultural development.
