Domestic literature booming across genres

Author  :       Source  :        2016-05-17

Chinese authors were prolific last year, producing a wealth of insightful and aesthetically pleasing works, according to an overview of domestic literature recently released by the China Writers Association. 2015 was an eventful year for literary creation and research. The report found signs of progress in most major branches of literary creation, such as novels, online literature, poetry, prose, reportage and children’s literature. Online literature is becoming integrated into the mainstream style of literature, and children’s literature continues to boom as children’s appetite for reading grows. Local experiences and Chinese stories are increasingly popular subject matter for Chinese authors. In terms of research, breakthroughs have been made in the theory of literary criticism and the introduction of foreign literary works by translation.
